King Henry the Fourth!

The Henriad: King Henry the Fourth

Prenzie Players present King Henry the Fourth, the second play in Shakespeare’s epic trilogy of power, love, and war, The Henriad--performed with a continuous cast for the first time in the area.

Raucous, hilarious, and heartbreaking, the next play, King Henry the Fourth, centers on the figure of the Prince of Wales, Hal, who, alienated from his cold father, spends his time in the company of thieves, drunkards, prostitutes, and a certain enormously fat knight long considered one of the greatest and wittiest characters in the theatrical repertory—Sir John Falstaff. As his distant and sick father falls ever closer to death, and his own succession nears, Hal must choose where his true allegiance lies—with his lowborn friends or the noble peers of his blood.

Volunteer

We are always in need of more help. If you have the desire and time, we want you. Some specific areas in which we always need help:

Gala - Every year we host a fund raising Gala with a silent auction. We need people to help with location, catering, auction items, publicity, etc.

Graphic Design - You've got mad fotoshop skeelz and want to help us with publicity materials, you're in.

Set Contruction - Yes, we know, we don't really use 'sets' as such, but we do occasionally need the odd accutrement built or otherwise acquired.

Seamstress - Again, yes, we know, we don't really use 'costumes' as such, but if you can sew and not injure yourself or others, we need you.

Sense and Sensibilities

The following are the principles on which we produce our shows:

Prenzie Players’ Sense and Sensibilities regarding the Performance of Poetic Theater

I. Meticulous attention to language is imperative in that –

  • Language is the genesis of all decisions regarding character, pacing and intensity (see John Barton’s Playing Shakespeare).
  • Decisions regarding cutting and performing the script are based on our players, our playing space, and our Time, with regard to our perception of the author’s intent.

II. Realism is essential only in that –

Prenzie who?

Like many grand ideas, Prenzie was born of late hours and adult beverages. Go figure.

The attendees were:
John (J.C.) Luxton
Denise Yoder
Cait Woolley (now Cait Bodenbener)
Aaron and Jill Sullivan

The grand plan was voiced thus "You know, there's precious little Shakespeare around here during the winter months."
